CLASSIFICATION – Exempt 

REPORTING TO – Estimating Manager 

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE 

The U.S. Architectural Glass and Matal (USAGM) Estimator is an important role within the Sales Management team. The position of Estimator provides a fantastic experience in Blueprint Reading, Relationship Building and paperwork management, and is well suited for anyone with a technical background that also enjoys interacting with customers. The Estimator requires strong technical and organizational skills, ability to respond to inquiries via electronic devices, telephone or computer and interaction with customers in a calm and friendly manner. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Participate as an enthusiastic and positive team member in obtaining and closing deals with the sales department.  

  • The Estimator will assist the sales department in procuring sales opportunities. 
  • Perform proper analysis and interpretation of Construction Blueprints. 
  • The Estimator will prepare Take Off’s and question ambiguities during bid preparation. 
  • The Estimator will assist senior estimators with certain tasks, including but not limited to obtaining material quotes, typing proposals, preparing awarded project folders for turnover to operations.   
  • Participate in and familiarize yourself with Project Specifications.  
  • Familiarity and ability to propose Estimates for Field Labor. 
  • Familiarity and ability to propose Estimates for Factory / Fabrication Labor. 
  • The Estimator will understand the requirements and options regarding lift equipment. 
  • Understanding of Construction schedules. 
  • Ability to converse and build relationships with Suppliers. 
  • The Estimator assists in presenting bid invitations / opportunities to determine (USAGM) acceptance, involvement or declination of the project. 
  • The Estimator will liaise between the Customer and Management during the bidding phase. 
  • The Estimator is responsible for Time Management and meeting proposal deadlines.  
  • The Estimator has a clear understanding of true costs – Overhead / Materials and Profit. 
  • The Estimator presents the Proposal and an Estimate Cost Summary Sheet to Management prior to delivery to the Customer. 
  • The Estimator is given access to very sensitive company information and is expected to maintain a high level of integrity in keeping all Customer, Supplier and Company information in the strictest of Confidentiality. 
  • The Estimator will attend weekly meetings with staff to provide feedback on progress and business or cost saving opportunities. 
  • The Estimator will be the Lead in preparing documents to turnover awarded business to our Operations Department. 
  • The Estimator will participate in Training and Educational Seminars and Classes as opportunities present themselves or required by Management. 
  • The Estimator will familiarize themselves in Software programs used for bidding purposes. 
  • The Estimator may be asked to Mentor New Hires in our Estimating Department. 
  • The Estimator will always conduct themselves in a professional manner and build relationships with Suppliers and Customers. 
  • The Estimator may be required to attend face to face meetings with customers to discuss Proposals. 
  • The Estimator will report to work in what is considered Professional attire 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • You must be educated to degree level and may also be required to hold any qualifications relating to Estimating. 
  • Must be comfortable with providing very detailed information with a high degree of accuracy. 
  • You must be fluent in English. 
  • As an Estimator with (USAGM), you may be required to have had previous experience in this industry and preferably experience in construction. 
  • An Estimator must be organized and possess a high level of administration ability to effectively manage paperwork. 
  • Due to the volume of communication that will be required with the client, the Estimator must possess excellent customer service skills. 
  • You must be proficient in Microsoft Office and any other software related to bid documents being utilized by our customers.    

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor’s Degree relating to estimating or experience equal to 
  • Auto-CAD knowledge  
  • Minimum 2 years work experience within the glass and glazing Industry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK 

  • This is a full-time position. Hours of work are on Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm 
  • This position occasionally requires hours outside of normal business hours 

TRAVEL 

There will be occasional local day travel
